About Packers Camp
Packers Camp is a rural locality in the Cairns Region, about 27 kilometres south of Cairns CBD in the Mulgrave River valley. Flat, low-lying land principally used for sugarcane cultivation, with a cane tramway running through to the Mulgrave Sugar Mill at Gordonvale. Originally a loading point for bullock teams heading to the goldfields over the range, the name dates to the late 19th century.
