About Walkamin
Walkamin is a small rural town on the Atherton Tablelands in tropical north Queensland, situated on the Kennedy Highway approximately 15 kilometres north-east of Mareeba and 50 kilometres south-west of Cairns. The town sits at an elevation of about 600 metres on the Atherton Tablelands, with a subtropical climate supporting mixed farming including avocados, mangoes, macadamias and grazing. Walkamin is known for its agricultural produce and its position within the fertile volcanic landscape of the tablelands.
