About Upper Barron
Upper Barron is a small rural locality on the Atherton Tablelands in tropical north Queensland, situated on the Malbon-Thompson Range approximately 30 kilometres south-west of Cairns. The area is characterised by dairy farming, beef cattle grazing and tropical fruit growing on the fertile volcanic soils of the tablelands. Upper Barron sits within a landscape of remnant subtropical rainforest, cleared grazing land and scattered rural properties, with the nearby town of Yorkeys Knob providing services to the district.
