About Malanda
Malanda is a rural town and locality on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, about 85 km from Cairns on the North Johnstone River. The town is centred on the dairy industry, with a butter factory established in 1919, and on tourism, including the Malanda Falls and the heritage-listed Majestic Theatre, said to be Australia's oldest continually operating cinema. The nearby Malanda Falls Conservation Park is home to platypus and tree-kangaroos.
