About Silver Valley
Silver Valley is a rural locality in the Tablelands Region of far-north Queensland, north-west of the mining town of Irvinebank. Prospector James Venture Mulligan discovered silver in the area in 1880, and tin mining followed from the 1890s, giving the locality its name and its late-19th-century mining heritage. The area was also known as Newellton.
