About Kaban
Kaban is a rural locality in the Tablelands Region, south-west of Cairns, located between Ravenshoe and Herberton. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning place of the sugar glider, taken from a former railway station, with the surrounding area part of the Atherton Tablelands' mixed farming and grazing country and a history of timber-getting including walnut harvesting in the 1930s.
