About Cardwell
Cardwell is a coastal town and locality in the Cassowary Coast Region, Queensland, Australia, the oldest settlement north of Bowen, proclaimed in 1864 as Port Hinchinbrook. Located between two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics, it features the Hinchinbrook Channel and Hinchinbrook Island offshore. The town was severely damaged by Category 5 Cyclone Yasi in 2011 and is known for the Cardwell Spa Pool, a geological wonder.
