About Geebung
Geebung is a northern suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, situated approximately 11.7 kilometres north-northeast of the Brisbane CBD. The suburb derives its name from the Geebung railway station on the Caboolture railway line, itself named for the fruit of Persoonia media, called "jibung" in the Dharug language. The area was historically significant during World War II as the site of the Chermside Army Camp. Geebung features several heritage-listed sites, including the Geebung State School and the Gerns Factory Residence. Downfall Creek Reserve and 7th Brigade Park provide green space within the suburb.
