About Brighton (Qld)
Brighton is a coastal northern suburb of Brisbane on the shores of Bramble Bay, about 28 km from the CBD. Originally inhabited by the Turrbal people, the area was first known as North Sandgate before taking its name from the Brighton Hotel, licensed in 1866. The suburb features a foreshore esplanade and wetlands, and serves as the southern gateway to the heritage-listed Hornibrook Bridge and the Houghton Highway crossing to the Redcliffe Peninsula.
