About Hamilton (Qld)
Hamilton is a riverside suburb in the north-east of Brisbane, on the north bank of the Brisbane River. It grew around the Hamilton Hotel, whose name came to apply to the whole district. Historically the suburb combined hilly residential streets with industrial wharves that served as Brisbane's main port; those wharves have since moved to the modern Port of Brisbane, and the former industrial riverside land is being redeveloped as the Hamilton Northshore precinct.
