About Eagle Farm

Eagle Farm is an eastern industrial suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, about 9 km north-east of the Brisbane CBD and bounded to the south by the Brisbane River. The name first appeared in 1839 for a cultivation area of the Moreton Bay penal settlement, where women prisoners were held from the mid-1830s until transportation ended. Today the suburb, part of the Australia TradeCoast zone, is largely industrial and home to the Royal Queensland Golf Club; the Eagle Farm racecourse that bears its name is in neighbouring Ascot.
