About Amity
Amity is a coastal town and locality on the north-west point of North Stradbroke Island in Moreton Bay, in the City of Redland. Known as Bulan by the traditional owners, the Quandamooka people, it is the island's smallest of the three residential communities. In 1825 a pilot station was established at Amity Point to guide ships travelling to the Moreton Bay penal settlement through the South Passage, the island's first non-indigenous settlement. It later became a base for commercial dugong fishing and was for many years the island's main landing place for visitors, served by Hayles Cruises from Brisbane until 1970.
