About Stuart (NT)

Stuart is a suburb of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, on the traditional Country of the Arrernte people on the southern outskirts of the town near Heavitree Gap. It is named after explorer John McDouall Stuart, the first European to cross Australia from south to north, and preserves the name by which the original Alice Springs settlement was known until 1933.
