About Araluen (NT)
Araluen is a residential suburb on the western side of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, on the traditional country of the Arrernte people. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning place of waterlilies, taken from aviation pioneer Edward Connellan's property, named after his parents' property in Victoria. The suburb is home to the Araluen Cultural Precinct, which includes the Araluen Arts Centre, Museum of Central Australia and the Strehlow Research Centre, a significant cultural and heritage hub for Central Australia.
