About Anmatjere

Anmatjere is a vast locality in the Northern Territory straddling the Stuart Highway about 200 kilometres north of Alice Springs. It is named after the former Anmatjere Community Government Council, whose seat was at Ti Tree, and takes in discrete Aboriginal communities and pastoral stations. Central Mount Stuart, the approximate geographical centre of Australia discovered by John McDouall Stuart in 1860, lies within the locality.
