About Moil

Moil is a northern suburb of Darwin in the Northern Territory, located 11.7 kilometres from the Darwin central business district on the traditional country and waterways of the Larrakia people. Built before Cyclone Tracy in 1974, the suburb derives its name from the Aboriginal people on the Moyle River who inhabit an area on the lower reaches of the Daly River and around Port Keats, despite sitting on Larrakia land. The suburb is very compact at only 1 square kilometre in area. Moil features a shopping complex and is bounded by the suburbs of Alawa, Wagaman, Wulagi, Jingili and Anula. The suburb is adjacent to Darwin International Airport to the south via Marrara.
