About Martinsville
Martinsville is a small town at the base of the Watagan Mountains, about eight kilometres north-west of Morisset in the City of Lake Macquarie. First settled in the 1860s by Irish immigrants William and Sarah Martin, the town grew from the timber industry with bullock teams hauling logs to Cooranbong mills before shifting to dairying and citrus. It was named after the Martin family in the 1890s.
