About Mandalong
Mandalong is a small rural town in the City of Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, located 3 kilometres west of Morisset and 116 kilometres north of Sydney. Settled by Europeans in 1852 on land of the Awabakal people, its name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning "where the forest she-oaks grow". The area is surrounded by bushland and the Watagan Mountains, with farming and timber working its original industries.
