About Edgeworth
Edgeworth is a suburb of Greater Newcastle in the City of Lake Macquarie, about 18 km west of Newcastle's central business district. It was originally known as Cocked Hat Creek and renamed Young Wallsend in 1885 after the Young Wallsend Coal Company opened a colliery there, before taking its present name in December 1960. A residential suburb of post-war and later housing, it is home to the heritage-listed former schoolteacher's residence and the Lake Macquarie Live Steam Locomotive Society's miniature train rides.
