About Wean

Wean is a rural locality in the New England and North West region of New South Wales, located about 377 kilometres from Sydney in the Narrabri Shire. The landscape features broad agricultural land in the North West Slopes. Wean is best known for the Wean Amateur Picnic Races held annually since 1933, one of the few true bush picnic race meetings still operating in New South Wales. The race meeting is traditionally held on the second Saturday of July in a magnificent bush setting with its own landing strip.
