About Wongo Creek
Wongo Creek is a rural locality in the Tamworth Regional area of the North West Slopes of New South Wales, about 355 kilometres from Sydney near the Namoi River. Open grazing and cropping country on rolling hills and native bushland supports a small farming community engaged in broad-acre agriculture and livestock, and the Wongo Creek Hall built in the 1930s hosted the Namoi Group CWA conference in 1935. Social life historically centred around local halls and sporting rivalries with neighbouring bush settlements.
