About Boggabri
Boggabri is a small town in north-eastern New South Wales, within Narrabri Shire on the Kamilaroi Highway between Gunnedah and Narrabri. Its name comes from the Gamilaraay word bagaaybaraay, meaning having creeks, likely a reference to the Namoi River that passes through the town. The original town site, about 20 kilometres to the south, was settled in the 1830s but relocated after a flood in the 1850s, and the town was proclaimed in 1862. Local attractions include Gin's Leap, a cliff tied to an Aboriginal legend, and Dripping Rock, a waterfall formed as water seeps down a high sedimentary rock wall.
