About Little Billabong
Little Billabong is a village community in the Riverina of New South Wales, on the old Hume Highway about 26 km east of Holbrook and 17 km west of Kyeamba. The name comes from the local creek and station, which date from the 1830s when the district was opened to pastoral runs. The village once had a school, post office, churches and a hotel, and served travellers on the Sydney to Melbourne road. The post office closed in 1953, and Little Billabong now retains a community hall and tennis courts amid the surrounding grazing country.
