About Kyeamba
Kyeamba is a farming community in the central east of the Riverina in New South Wales, on the boundary between the slopes of the Great Dividing Range and the Riverina plain, about 23 kilometres south-west of Tarcutta. The name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning 'forehead band'. The area was served by a telegraph office opened in 1861, which became a post office, was renamed Kyeamba in 1917 and closed in 1957. Today the locality, near where the Alfredtown Road meets the Hume Highway, has no stores or significant public buildings, with the property Kyeamba Park at its entrance.
