About Rothbury

Rothbury is a small rural locality in the Hunter Valley wine country of New South Wales, approximately 10 kilometres from Cessnock and 8 kilometres from the Pokolbin vineyards. Nestled beneath the Brokenback and Molly Morgan ranges, the locality is surrounded by celebrated Semillon and Shiraz vineyards. The town is historically notable for the 1929 Rothbury Riot during the miners' lockout.
