About Gresford
Gresford is a small rural locality in the Dungog Shire of the Hunter Region, New South Wales, located approximately 192 kilometres north of Sydney. The name refers to two villages — Gresford (or West Gresford) and East Gresford — separated by about two kilometres on the Williams River road corridor. Named after a town on the Allyn River in North Wales by early Welsh settlers Charles Boydell and George Townshend, the area provides access to the southern reaches of the Barrington Tops National Park.
