About Uriarra Village
Uriarra Village is a town in the district of Coree, in the Australian Capital Territory in Australia. It is situated on the western side of the Australian Capital Territory, about 30 minutes from Canberra, established in 1928 at the foothills of the Australian Alps. In 1928 the Uriarra Forestry Settlement was established to permanently house forestry workers who also served as fire surveillance officers, and the census that year recorded 30 residents. Sixteen of the original 23 homes were lost in the 2003 Canberra bushfires, and the village was rebuilt from 2007.
