About ACT Remainder - Stromlo
ACT Remainder - Stromlo is a sparsely settled statistical locality in the Stromlo district of the Australian Capital Territory, covering conservation land and rural holdings west of Canberra's urban fringe. The area is dominated by Mount Stromlo, which rises to 770 metres and is home to the internationally recognised Mount Stromlo Observatory, operated by the Australian National University since 1924. Much of the surrounding bushland regenerated after the 2003 Canberra bushfires, and the locality now includes Stromlo Forest Park, a major recreational precinct with world-class mountain bike and running trails.
