About Gascoyne Junction
Gascoyne Junction is a small town in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia, inland from Carnarvon at the junction of the Gascoyne and Lyons rivers. The townsite was gazetted as Killili in 1912, an Aboriginal word meaning 'bullrush', and renamed Gascoyne Junction in 1939. The heritage-listed road board office, which later served as the town's first school, is now a museum, and a police station dates from the late 1890s.
