About Cookernup

Cookernup is a small rural town in the South West region of Western Australia, situated approximately 131 kilometres south of Perth along the South Western Highway between Waroona and Harvey. The name derives from an Aboriginal word meaning the place of the swamp hen. The first settler, Joseph Logue, arrived in 1852 and established a 9,000-hectare grant, and the nearby Logue Brook Dam offers bushwalking, waterskiing and camping in jarrah forest.
