About Aldgate
Aldgate is a village and suburb in the Adelaide Hills, about 21 kilometres southeast of the Adelaide CBD. Named after Aldgate in London, the settlement grew around the Aldgate Pump hotel, established in 1864 by Richard Hawkins as a coaching stop on the road to the Echunga gold diggings. The railway station opened in 1883 and is now the Hut Community Centre.
