About Portsea
Portsea is a seaside suburb at the western tip of the Mornington Peninsula, about 60 kilometres southwest of Melbourne, in the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. It adjoins Point Nepean National Park, where a quarantine station was established in 1852 and Fort Nepean fortifications guard the entrance to Port Phillip. Portsea has long been a holiday destination; nearby Cheviot Beach is where Prime Minister Harold Holt disappeared in 1967.
