About Blairgowrie
Blairgowrie is a seaside suburb near the western tip of the Mornington Peninsula, between Sorrento and Rye, about 63 km south of Melbourne. It sits on a narrow strip of coast bordered by Port Phillip Bay to the north and the surf beaches and cliffs of Bass Strait to the south, and is a popular holiday destination. The suburb takes its name from the Scottish burgh of Blairgowrie. Blairgowrie Pier, built as a boat harbour by the local yacht squadron, is one of Port Phillip's most popular shore-diving sites, known for its many species of nudibranchs and the annual winter migration of spider crabs.
