About Wandiligong
Wandiligong is a town on Morses Creek in the Alpine Shire of north-eastern Victoria, about 6 km south of Bright. It began as a gold-mining settlement known as Growler's Creek in the 1850s and reportedly grew to a population of around 2,000. The town is now a National Trust-listed historic landscape, with the Manchester Unity hall of 1874 among its preserved buildings, and the surrounding valley became one of the largest apple-growing areas in the southern hemisphere.
