About Diggers Rest
Diggers Rest is a town in Victoria, about 28 km north-west of Melbourne's central business district, within the Cities of Hume and Melton. It began as a stopping place on the road to the Bendigo goldfields in the 1850s. The town is best known as the site of the first controlled powered flight in Australia, made by Harry Houdini in a Voisin biplane on 18 March 1910.
