About Park Orchards
Park Orchards is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, 25 kilometres north-east of the central business district, within the City of Manningham and City of Maroondah. It was created in 1925 when orchard land owned by Tom Petty was subdivided as the Park Orchards Country Club Estate, with a distinctive circular street layout designed by Saxil Tuxen, a protege of Walter Burley Griffin. The suburb is largely a Green Wedge area of bushland, parkland and older homes, and is listed in the Australian Heritage Database.
