About Pingrup
Pingrup is a small town and locality in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, one of two localities in the Shire of Kent alongside Nyabing. The town came into being as the terminus of the railway line extended from Nyabing in 1923 and was gazetted in 1924, taking its name from a nearby lake, a Noongar word meaning 'place where they are digging'. Pink lakes are found in the surrounding district.
