About Lake Ninan

Lake Ninan is a remote locality in the Western Australian wheatbelt, named after a large ephemeral salt lake 11 km south-west of Wongan Hills. In 1910, water from the lake was carted by camels to supply steam trains. The lake is a wetland habitat for waterbirds and is now known for astrotourism, while the surrounding area supports broadacre farming.
