About Bailup
Bailup is a rural residential locality about 62 km north-east of Perth, along Toodyay Road, mostly within the Shire of Mundaring. It takes its name from a creek beside the road, where a police station and inn were established in the 1840s on the route to the Wheatbelt town of Toodyay; the name is of Noongar origin though its meaning is unclear. The main settlement is the Morangup Estate, north of Toodyay Road on the east bank of Red Swamp Brook.
