About Babakin
Babakin is a small town in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, between the towns of Bruce Rock and Corrigin. The site was a pastoral lease from 1873 to 1914, first taken up by C. Heal, and its name comes from a Noongar term for the dingo. Settlement grew with land grants to returned servicemen after the First World War, and in 1932 the town gained two engine-fitted grain elevators at its railway siding. It has a school, shop, hall and sporting facilities, and is home to the rare Western Underground Orchid.
