About Strelley
Strelley is a locality in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, about 40 kilometres inland from Port Hedland. It is the site of Strelley Station, a pastoral property bought in the early 1970s by Aboriginal pastoral workers and their families who took part in the 1946 Pilbara strike. The community established Western Australia's first independent Aboriginal school, a bilingual school teaching in English and Nyangumarta that still operates today.
