About Safety Bay
Safety Bay is a coastal suburb about 40 to 50 km south of Perth on the Indian Ocean coastline in the City of Rockingham. Named in 1837 by Surveyor General John Septimus Roe for its safe anchorage, it is known for its calm, shallow bay beach, pristine waters ideal for swimming and kitesurfing, and wild dolphins in nearby Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. The suburb sits on the northern shore of Warnbro Sound, with Tern Island and Penguin Island as notable local features.
