About Rockingham (WA)

Rockingham is a coastal suburb on the sheltered northern shore of Cockburn Sound, with flat, sandy terrain and its foreshore at Mangles Bay near the Garden Island Causeway to the HMAS Stirling naval base. It functions as the primary service and commercial centre for the surrounding region and was historically developed as a timber port before expanding through defence and residential growth. The suburb includes the distinctive north-facing Palm Beach and lies within reach of the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.
