About Palmyra (WA)
Palmyra is an inner-western suburb of Perth, about 16 km from the GPO in the City of Melville, established around 1903 as the Palmyra Estate. Named after the ancient city in Syria, believed to be a play on "palm area" as the land was covered in toxic Zamia Palms before development, the suburb is bounded by Canning Highway and Stock Road. The historic Millers Bakehouse Museum is a notable local landmark.
