About Cardup
Cardup is an outer suburb of Perth in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, Western Australia, north of Mundijong. The name is an Aboriginal word said to mean 'place of the racehorse goanna', recorded as Cardoup by Surveyor Robert Austin in 1844 for the locality and its brook. A railway siding named Cardup was erected nearby in 1927, and the area has retained the name.
