About Canning Mills
Canning Mills is a semi-rural suburb in the City of Kalamunda in Perth's eastern foothills, about 26 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Named after the Canning River, it was the terminus of the Upper Darling Range railway built by the Canning Jarrah Timber Company and served as a timber milling town in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The suburb is surrounded by jarrah and marri forest with scenic walking trails.
