About Carmel

Carmel is a semi-rural suburb of Perth in the Darling Range of Western Australia, located about 30 kilometres east of the Perth CBD within the City of Kalamunda. Originally called Green's Landing after an early settler and renamed in 1915 from the Hebrew for park or garden of God, the suburb features bushland acreage properties surrounded by jarrah and marri forest. The Carmel Adventist College, founded in 1907, and the Sanitarium Health Food factory, operating since 1933, are notable local landmarks, and the area forms part of the Bickley-Carmel wine and orchard country.
