About Woodlands (WA)
Woodlands is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located about 8 kilometres from the central business district in the City of Stirling. The area was originally known as Jackadup, an Aboriginal name applied to the locality's main feature, Jackadder Lake. A land grant was made in 1831 and the Manning family later established a dairy near the lake. It was named by original subdividers who gave several streets names containing "wood", with many subsequent streets also named after tree species. Development began in the 1960s.
