About Koondoola
Koondoola is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located approximately 15 km north of the Perth CBD within the City of Wanneroo. Bounded by Mirrabooka Avenue to the west, Beach Road to the south, Marangaroo Drive to the north, and Alexander Drive to the east, the suburb was established in the 1970s on land that had previously served as a regional landfill facility. The name is an Aboriginal word meaning "emu," approved for the suburb in March 1970. Koondoola is notable for the 137-hectare Koondoola Regional Bushland (Bush Forever Site 201), a remnant of the Swan Coastal Plain featuring Banksia woodlands, seasonal wetlands, and diverse native fauna including western grey kangaroos and Carnaby's cockatoos. Key landmarks include Koondoola Plaza, Koondoola Primary School, and Koondoola Park.
