About Avon Valley National Park
Avon Valley National Park is a national park in Western Australia, about 47 kilometres north-east of Perth, named after the Avon River which flows through it. Established in 1970 on a former military training area, the park is an undulating plateau cut by a steep river valley, with granite outcrops, jarrah and wandoo forests and abundant spring wildflowers. The bushranger Moondyne Joe once used the area as a hide-out, and the Whadjuk people are its traditional owners.
